Biography
Eponine LUTZ is a textile artist whose work explores forms of the living through what she describes as a post-classificatory biomorphism. Using tufting as a sculptural process, she creates textile organisms in relief where the boundaries between animal and plant dissolve.
Rather than representing nature, her works reenact its generative logics — growth, symbiosis, and hybridization. Through successive layers of fibers and materials, she constructs textured surfaces that appear to grow organically, forming membranes and proliferating structures.
Her practice questions the impulse to classify the living and invites a direct sensory experience. The tufted wool surfaces, at times rough and at times unexpectedly soft, engage both sight and touch, transforming the work into a tactile and physical presence.
